In this recent LSE Podcast, with contributions from Professor Christian Hilber and Kath Scanlon, we hear how regulations such as the Green Belt are providing a real barrier to the delivery of housing by preventing our cities from growing outwards and how due to Right to Buy the stock of social rented housing in England has significantly reduced and how this coupled with limited vacancies in social housing is placing increased pressure on the private rented sector. We also hear from the Executive Director of the London Community Land Trust highlighting how Community Land Trusts have a key role to play in providing genuinely affordable housing however are only one part of the solution.
