The LPDF hosted their first ever fringe event this month at the Local Government Association (LGA) Conference held in Bournemouth.
The event titled “Finding the land we need for homes” was attended by over 20 council leaders and focused on how the private and public sectors can work together to increase the supply, diversity and quality of new homes.
Key questions addressed included:
- How can we work together to deliver the social benefits of residential development including affordable homes?
- Are development contributions being captured effectively, and can the current system be improved?
- What can be done to increase diversity within the housebuilding sector?
The discussion was chaired by Sir Merrick Cockell and speakers included Cllr Peter Marland (Leader, Milton Keynes), Cllr Sara Bedford (Leader, Three Rivers), Cllr Tim Oliver (Leader, Surrey CC) and Paul Brocklehurst (Chairman of the LPDF and Chief Executive of Catesby Estates plc).
