Turley working with Zack Simons of Landmark Chambers, and supported by the LPDF, have succeeded in persuading the Government to introduce new legislation to get the Local Plan system moving after weeks of delay.
The Government announced on 16th July that it has laid legislation before Parliament for Local Plan consultations to take place without the need for a hard copy being made available in the council offices.
This simple change enables authorities to get moving again and produce Local Plans, which are the cornerstone of the planning system, and provide the framework for the delivery of new homes across the country. It adds to the range of new powers which were previously given to authorities to hold ‘virtual’ committee meetings in order to determine applications without meeting in person.
This is a welcome step forward in delivering much-needed land and homes to the market.
